Limerick City Council with Sisk Building Contractors:
This initiative has two phases, the first part of which was to look at the waste management practices in place during the construction of a major new development in a busy city centre location in Limerick City in conjunction with Sisk Building Contractors. This company is particularly progressive in relation on on-site waste management and part of this project was to learn from their experience on how to conserve construction materials, reuse products on site during construction and manage the overall waste arisings so that as much waste as possible would be diverted from landfill to recycling.

The construction stage of this development is now complete and the second phase of the project has commenced: this sees us working with a range of tenants across the city centre who represent apartment dwellers, retailers and the Marriott Hotel to build an awareness of waste prevention and to encourage people to prevent waste at all levels of our work and home life on a daily basis.

As a further outcome of this initiative it is hoped to commence a dialogue with a range of professionals to make city centre developments more sustainable throughout the construction phase as well as for the end users. We hope to engage with Developers, Designers and Architects, Planners and Property Management Companies.
